Register Now for 2011 Hawthorn Woods 1/2 Marathon Zorrel Technical Race Shirts guaranteed to all participants registered prior to race day! The second annual Hawthorn Woods 1/2 Marathon will start and finish at Heritage Oaks Park in Hawthorn Woods. This single loop course will let runners experience rolling hills and a scenery changing course including country roads, forest preserve and winding roads through nearby subdivisions. This is a USATF certified and chip timed event.
Although not hilly, this course is definitely not flat. After the start at Heritage Oaks Park, the course will transition quickly into a neighboring and winding community. After a few miles through this beautiful community, runners will exit onto Old McHenry Rd for about 0.50 miles. Runners will then enter into another subdivision for a few more miles, as well as include a portion of a neighboring park. Around mile seven, runners will move onto a tree-lined country road and eventually reach the Lakewood Forest Preserve. At this point, runners will run for a little over a mile on the crushed limestone path of Millennium Trail that cuts through the forest preserve. Runners will then exit onto Schwerman Rd that will lead to the Hawthorn Woods Country Club. From here it is a straight shot back to Heritage Oaks Park where runners will finish will a loop around the lake at Heritage Oaks Park.
